I discovered Reiki in 1999. I had my first Reiki attunement in early 2000. By the end of 2000 I had become a Reiki Master. Reiki is an Japanese art of energy healing. It was originally brought over the United States through Hawaii by the Takata family. It has been practiced through many generations and now has a number of varied traditions. I was taught a traditional Usui method of Reiki. In this tradition there is Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and then Reiki Master. For those who have heard of Reiki 3 or advanced Reiki, this is something developed more recently by William Rand and was not originally part of Reiki training. My first Reiki attunement was extremely powerful. It even awakened other additional gifts that I have since developed.
I often now combine my Reiki practice with other techniques. Although, I still do offer half hour and hour hands-on sessions for those clients that would just like to receive energy healing. While I do know that Reiki can be sent over distance, I prefer to work with my clients who receive energy work in person.
Over the years, I have taught dozens of students Reiki 1, which is the hands-on portion of Reiki. A number of these students then pursued their Reiki 2 attunement with me, which focuses on learning how to heal over distance and time. While not everyone wants to teach, I have had a few students who received their Reiki Master with me as well. I teach Reiki from both an intuitive and highly principled place. I have encountered some practitioners that were not taught how to hold strong boundaries when performing Reiki. I ended up reattuning and retraining some of these practitioners to assist them in being more effective and less drained by their sessions.
